The South Carolina Ports Authority has announced that the volume handled in April 2017 was the second-highest volume ever recorded in SCPA history. April 2017 volumes exceeded April 2016 volumes by 20 percent. SCPA has moved 1.8 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) since the 2017 fiscal year began in July.
SCPA also announced that Pamela Lackey, president of AT&T South Carolina and Executive Committee Member of the South Carolina Council on Competitiveness, has been named chair of the SCPA. Lackey is the first woman to serve as chair of the SCPA. She was originally appointed to the South Carolina Ports Authority Board in 2010 by then-Governor Nikki Haley.
